CallGenius identifies and blocks spam calls by analyzing them on your device before your phone rings. This policy explains what information CallGenius processes, what stays on your device, and the very limited data it shares to keep the community spam database useful. We do not sell your data, to anyone, ever.
To screen and identify calls, CallGenius reads: the phone numbers of your incoming and outgoing calls (from Android's call log and telephony system), your contacts (to recognize known callers), numbers you manually search in Lookup, and any number + label you choose to submit with the Report button. If you subscribe to Premium, Google Play Billing tells the app your subscription status — CallGenius never sees your payment details.
CallGenius reads your call log and contacts on-device to screen calls and recognize known callers — that read never becomes a network request. Neither a contact's name, your contacts list, nor any call-log entry (who called, when, how long) is ever transmitted, uploaded, included in a backup sent to us, or shared with any third party — because there is no "us" to send it to: CallGenius has no account system and no server that stores your call history. This is the whole reason the app can request Call Log and Contacts access at all: everything they enable happens entirely on your device.
Your call log, contacts, personal call labels, block/allow lists, block history, recent lookups, and your device's own learned spam-detection model all stay on your phone and are never transmitted anywhere. Numbers you've blocked, allowed, or looked up are additionally protected the same way your other saved app data is: they ride along in your own Android backup when you set up a new phone (see "Moving to a new phone" below), not through any CallGenius server.
Only four things ever leave your device, and none of them include your contacts or call log:
Your block/allow lists, block history, recent lookups, and personal learning model are included in your device's own Android backup, so setting up a new phone with "Switch to Android" or a standard Google account restore brings your CallGenius setup with it — the same way your other apps' settings do. That backup is end-to-end encrypted by Android using your own device credentials; Google can't read it and CallGenius never sees it, receives it, or stores a copy of it anywhere.
Your device's call log follows Android's own retention, outside CallGenius's control. Records CallGenius creates itself (block history, your feedback) follow the retention window you choose in Settings → History Retention (7 days, 30 days, or forever). Uninstalling CallGenius removes all data stored on your device, immediately and completely.
You can disable community report contribution in Settings at any time, revoke any Android permission from your system Settings (CallGenius will tell you what stops working), and uninstall the app to erase all local data. Because there's no account, there's no separate "delete my data" request to make — removing the app is enough.
CallGenius is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes in a way that matters to you, we'll update the effective date above and note it in the in-app changelog (About → What's New).
